VBA RESTORE ERROR.

Hi

I have setup the vba and can make the backups happen.

but when testing restore. I get the following error.

vSphere Replication does not support changing the length of a replicated disk. I checked the vmware site and got below. I followed the documentation release8.1 sp1 page 69 to 70. Is this known error?

VMware KB: Virtual machines replicated with vSphere Replication cannot be restored using backup software

I checked my vmware as below.

So we have found the answer.

Even if you try and do a restore of a virtual image of a virtual machine you have backed up with replication and the virtual machine is powered off the restore fails with the following error.

vSphere Replication does not support changing the length of a replicated disk.

If the virtual server is on while trying a restore you get the same error just for information purposes.(not logical)

However if you stop replication of the client. Even while it is powered on you can do the restore fine.

So to update this.

We have found that when we use a non replicated virtual machine restore is fine no issues.

If we turn off replication of the server that is being replicated it seems fine.

This seems to go against what has been published in the vm article attached at the top of this post.
