Workgroup Edition Upgrade
I have been told that we can not upgrade workgroup edition to network edition. Is this true?
If yes, can we add client connections to Workgroup Edition so that the customer can have more than 8(1+7) clients?

Unfortunately, this is true. The only way is to buy a full edition (network or power, or even faststart).
EDIT: you can find this in the Release Notes document.

I would like to highlight that you can upgrade your enabler code to the Power Edition enabler code without removing the old one , all you have to do is from the command line type the following :
nsrcap -u new_enabler_code
Note : Take care well while writing the 18 digit enabler code. Be Careful.
This should upgrade your NetWorker edition to the Power edition or any other edition based on the enabler code

If you are looking to add more clients to your NW workgroup edition, then I think you can add a client connections enabler.
you may try to use the following temp client connection enabler : 3131b3-edcd77-42e77b and check if it works.
