different between sub-type vmdk and virtualmachine in networker 9

while creation client group type VMware i find  sub-type vmdk and virtualmachine ..
what the different between them ??

Yes, Thats what it means.

From the Sub-Type list, select whether to create a VirtualMachine group, or a VMDK

group for disk level backup.

You can refer to the VMware Integration Guide, Chapter : VMware data protection policies in NMC

Hi,

- A full image backup job includes all disks in the entire virtual machine (VM) in a single image backup.

- Single VMDK Backup backup jobs allow you to select only the disks (VMDKs) you need.

I guess, that the Image Level Backup didn't backup the configuration files of the VM. Also, according to my experience, the Image Level Backup didn't allow to recover a single VMDK (at least not to the original location).

that mean if i backup vmdk sub-type i backup only hdd file without configuration files (vmx .....) ????
and if i backup virtualmachine sub-type i will backup all VM file and i can recover any file of them ????
thats right ??? any white paper of this
