recover command line

Hello Folks,

I need to recover from commande line all the backuped version of a directory to a new path and rename the duplicated file name if found

Networker 8.2.3.4 on Windows 2012, client Windows 2012.

the equivalent in the TSM client done is : ret \sourcepath\* DestPath\ -subdir=yes -replace=no

NetWorker does not have the ability to automate recovering all backups of file(s) from date1 to date2.

The recovery program allows you to specify a point in time recovery, by specifying either a specific date, or a specific backup saveset id number (ssid).

Therefore, using the savest recovery method:

  1. determine all the saveset id #'s that were backed up between date1 to date2.
  2. perform a saveset recovery for each ssid found in step 1.  The recover command to include the ssid is:

               recover  -s (n/w server) -a -iR  -S ssid -d (destination path)  (source path)


Or you can specify the recover date from date1 to date2:


     recover  -s (n/w server) -a -iR  -t "m1/d1/y1"  -d (destination path)  (source path)

     recover  -s (n/w server) -a -iR  -t "m1/d2/y1"  -d (destination path)  (source path)

     recover  -s (n/w server) -a -iR  -t "m1/d3/y1"  -d (destination path)  (source path)

     (etc)

     recover  -s (n/w server) -a -iR  -t "mx/dx/yx"  -d (destination path)  (source path)

recover  -s (n/w server) -a -iR -d (destination path)  (source path)

where:

  1. -s (n/w server): contact the NetWorker Server
  2. -a: perform a non interactive recovery
  3. -iR: automatically renames conflicting files by appending a dot, (".") and a suffix


I am assuming you are running this on the Windows 2012 client that you are recovering the files to, and that the backup files were also from the same Windows 2012 client.


This command will perform a non interactive recover from the most recent backups for (source path) of the Windows host you are currently on, and write the files to (destination path). If there are any name conflicts with files in the (destination path), then the recovered files will be automatically renamed.

the clue is I need all the recover version availablle from date1 to date2. not only the most recent backup.

Any advise for 1. determine all the saveset id #'s that were backed up between date1 to date2.


what I have done is the retrieve the recover version from recover utilility and do :


recover -iR -d /c:\RecoverTestDest -a /c:\RecoverTest -t


date for each version found in:


recover> version /c:\RecoverTest


But I didn't found some files that I am able to browse from the GUI !!

determining all the ssids: on the backup server, assuming that the saveset name is c:\RecoverTest, run:

mminfo -avot -q "savetime>date1,savetime<=date2" -c client-name -r "savetime(60),client,ssid,name" | find /i "c:\RecoverTest"

Which recover GUI are you using?  The NMC recover tool?  Or the Windows NetWorker User GUI?

Could it be that on a certain date, the files you are looking for did not exist?

All is OK, I have missed one date from the version list, bellow a listing of what is done

Bellow listing of the two methode :

A) By using the version of the recover backup

B) By using the ssid listed on the networker server

Method B is better we can see that it permit to not have a lot of duplicated file name recovered
