Can't update firmware PC 6224

Hi,

Power Connect 6224 firmware 3.3.7.3.

I'd like to upgrade to 3.3.10.3; I followed the upgrade procedure by copy tftp://my_tftp_serv/PC6200v3.3.10.3.stk image

The copy ended with no error, but sh ver returns both image1 and image2 the same (3.3.7.3).

I tried to upgrade by http interface with same result, no-error but can't see anywhere the 3.3.10.3 version.

What's wrong ?

Thank's.

Regards.

Fred.

From the boot menu when upgrading try choosing option 8 to delete the backup image and then try updating.

Hi Fred,

Are you getting the output at the end of the copy?

File transfer operation completed successfully.

You can try stepping up to 3.3.8.2 and 3.3.9.1 and see if those will update.

If that doesn’t work, try updating through the boot menu with xmodem, those instructions are at the end of the upgrade guide.

Hi Josh,

yes at the end of the process I get the "file transfer operation completed successfully" message.

I also tried to update to 3.3.8.2 with same result, I can't see the firmware update file).

I didn't completed to update via xmodem from boot menu because even in 115200 bds, it would process in more than 3 hours, but I think I'll have to do it!

Thank's.

Regards.

Josh,

I'm trying again to update via xmodem, it seems to be faster than other time (perhaps I thought I changed tue bauds rate, but not ?), it will process in about 20 minutes, I'll post the result soon.

I tried to update via XMODEM to version 3.3.8.3 with same result.

It's like the image file could not be updatable!

I don't know what to do.

Regards.

I am doing some more research on the issue. Have you tried the update bootcode command?

Could it be possible that the file PC6200v3.3.10.3a35.zip contains the 3.3.7.3 firmware and not the 3.3.10.3 ?

Here it's the screen copy of the process:

[Boot Menu] 4
Ready to receive the file with XMODEM/CRC....
Ready to RECEIVE File xcode.bin in binary mode
Send several Control-X characters to cancel before transfer starts.
CKCK

Hi Josh,

you really saved me !

your very good suggestion help me to understand my first mistake, explainations:

the very first time I tried to update firmware, I used http interface, but I'm sure now (by remind all the operations I made) I uploaded instead of downloaded; so if, the file name in my tftp server was still PC6200_V3.3.10.3.stk, but in fact the v3.3.7.3 was in it.

So I could try and try again, I updated the 3.3.7.3 firmware with the same version !!!

So I put the right file in my tftp server and it worked well immediately, of course.

Now I've got image1=3.3.7.3, image2=3.3.10.3, active image=image2, Yess!

Shame on me, bouh !!!

Thank you very much Josh.

Bests regards.

Fred.
