Connect two switches PC 2748

Hello,
I need to connect two switches PowerConnect 2748.
All traffic is on the same broadcast domain, all ports operate in VLAN 1 by default.

How should I connect the two switches ?
Using a straight cable or crossover ?
I need to create LAG port ?

Tnx in advance
Manuel

RE: Connect two switches PC 2748

since all traffic is on the default VLAN there is no need for special port settings. Simply connect the two switches together.

It is not required to create a LAG, but depending on the networking it may be a good idea to make a LAG between the two switches. This can help with redundancy and throughput.

You will want to use a crossover cable.

Tnx 🙂

Another question: with LAG ports I always need to use crossover cables ?

The same rules from the chart apply whether the connection is a LAG or not.

RE: Connect two switches PC 2748

Hello,
I created a lag group to connect the two switches (with ports 45,46,47,48).

Now I need to create a VLAN (ID 100).
The ports that I have to tag is P2 on Switch #1 and P2 on Switch #2.

Tagged packets (with VLAN 100) do not seem to pass between the two switches via the LAG group.

If I tag the vlan 100 in the lag group, then no longer passes the rest of the traffic (on vlan 1 by default).

Can you help me ?
Tnx in advance

Under VLAN interface settings you want the frame type to be admit all. The PVID needs to be set to the VLAN you want. Then under VLAN membership with tag vlan 100. That should allow both tagged and untagged traffic across the connection.
