POWERCONNECT 3424 reset

Hello, i'm having problems to reset the switch.

I can't access to the administrator web portal... it show

Access was denied due to one of the following reasons:

1) There are too many users logged in

   or

2) The specified user name and/or password is incorrect

   or

3) The specified user has not been granted web administration privileges

I "reset" the switch with the reset buttom but it seems that only a reboot is doing.

Some ideas?

Thanks,

Gustavo

Then I do not think you have a null modem cable.   Can you ohm out the cable (from end to end including adaptors since is looks like you have at least one adaptor)?  Pin 2 on one side should be connected to pin 3 on the other and ping 3 should be connected to ping 2.

Look in the users guide under "Startup Menu Procedures".  Use the option "[3] Password Recovery Procedure"

no.  you can only access the boot strap software via the serial port.

You probably have hardware flow control enabled.  Set the serial connection in your terminal software to NO FLOWCONTROL.

putty or teraterm are good free programs.  Anything should work though.

Wich is the recomended emulator software?

We are using "sock terminal" but it seems that we can connect but can't enter commands.

(we are using an USB adapter to connect via the RS-232 crossover cable)

Thanks a lot.

It is strange that you do not see any output on the console at all.

- check your cabling by looping back pins 2 and 3  and typing.  If the cabling is good you will see what you type on the console.   Use a paper clip to connect pins 2 and 3.

- if the loopback test works, plug the cable back into the switch and try different baud rates.   115200 is popular, but anything is possible.

I check my cabling by looping back pins 2 and 3 and typing. It works! I saw what I type on the console.

Now I plug the cable back into the switch and try different baud rates.  From 300 up to 921600 and I can't see anything.

Any others ideas?

Thanks a lot,

Gustavo

Does the switch have any signs of life?  Any LEDs lit, etc.  If not, then it may be dead.

Thank you very match.

We construct the cable becouse the cable that we have bought wasn't crossover.

Additionaly we had the user locked and we could unlock it with the terminal.
