PowerConnect 5324 and default VLAN

I am trying to setup a network with the following VLANs: 1, 20, 21, 25, 30.  I understand that VLAN1 is the native VLAN of the switch.  I was under the impression that any untagged traffic will get moved to this VLAN.

I have the following configuration:

vlan database
vlan 1,20,21,25,30
exit

interface range ethernet g(1-8)
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1,20,21,25,30
exit

interface range ethernet g(9-24)
switchport mode general
switchport general allowed vlan add 1,20,21,25,30
exit

I have g1 connected to a Vyatta router and g9 connected to a netbook.  If I don't configure the switch and leave the router with no VLAN I can get DHCP to assign an IP, as soon as I start doing VLANs on the router I no longer get DHCP assignments.  I was under the impression that any inbound traffic to g(9-24) that is untagged will be moved to VLAN1, am I missing something?
