The application firmware is corrupted or an earlier version than the boot code that uses a different compression method.

You need to xmodem download application firmware from the bootcode.   This is the version of application firmware that matches your bootcode:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R183225&SystemID=PWC_5324&servicetag=&os=WNET&osl=en&deviceid=7994&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=5&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=2&libid=5&fileid=250308

Instructions for XMODEM download are in the "Downloading the Software.pdf" file in the zip file at the link above.

Hi,

I have the same problem on one of our switches, however I'm failing in downloading the firmware. It is either not starting the download at all, or it starts and stops after a few bytes. The switch also reboots quite regularly during the "download".

Can you please suggest what am I doing wrong during this download, since I'm following the procedure on the manual and other forums...

Some things that may help.

Connect via the console.

Make sure no other devices are plugged into switch during the update.

You can also try deleting the startup config, may help to have the switch clean. The process for that can change from switch to switch, so check the owners manual.

Also may help to delete all the current log files on the switch.

If you let us know what switch you have we can help with any of the commands to get these tasks done.

Keep us updated.

Thanks.
