connecting dell n3048 to nexus 3k

hello i tried connecting a cisco nexus 3k to a dell n3048 using the 1gig combo sfp port but received a notice that the transceiver was not dell qualified.

i was using a cisco 10 gig twinax cable

why does the cable not work? what are my options for connection? i like twinax because its nice and easy. does dell have its own twinax cable that would work?

The SFP+ ports on the switch support passive direct attach cables. Here is a link to one of the Dell cables.

Sometimes firmware can play a role in interoperability. You may want to check to see if the switch is up to date.

I show that cable to work, but it needs to be rev A02. Do you know what revision this cable is?

That Cisco cable should work as long as it says v02 or higher on the transceiver portion. If it is v01, it may not work.

Can you please try running the command # service unsupported-transceiver, and see if the behavior changes.

Thanks

ran the command. no change . also tried the 10 gig port and it still shows up as being not dell qualified.

this makes me think that its mandatory to use a dell twinax cable .
