live removal of stack module

Jump to solution

Hi,

We have 2 PowerConnect 6248 which are stacked. We need our stack module for our new setup but we can't shutdown this production environnement yet.

It is possible to remove stack module of our switch without affecting it's config? Does the switch will work without any problem and it will act simply as if we remove the backbone cable?

Thanks for your time

The PowerConnect modules do not support hot-insertion. The stacking cables can be removed and installed without needing to power down the unit, but not the modules. Here are a couple links with some additional information on stacking the 6200 switches.

Thanks for your answer, I saw the section "Removing a Stack Member with Minimal Interruption" on the second link you gave me and this will help us. (also knowing that we can't remove our stacking module live)
