power connect 2748 fan question

Is it possible to regulate the fans on this unit. I.E have them run only when temp threshold is
exceed or at least ramp down. A friend asked me about this since the noise is disturbing in a small office. I found nothing in manuals. thanks

I too would love to know this. My 2748 arrived today and I was rather surprised to hear the jet engines when I turned it on. I just presumed the fans would settle down once the switch had finished starting, but apparently not. This may be too loud for the server closet (which vents from the office space). I hope there is a solution to this, as it would be loud enough to make me think twice about ordering another. Two 2724's might have been smarter.

Hey there. Same problem of mine.
But I Would also like to know if your 2748 block the whole network after some days of working, causing STP flooding on the rest of the LAN.
 
Are u using it in stand alone mode or is it connected on some others nodes of your complex Network? You can even answer me with a privat message.
