1535 Compatible 5Ghz WLAN card

I have a Studio 1535 and I am looking for a compatible 5Ghz WLAN card. Can anyone advise if the 1520 mini card is suitable?

Is there a suitable bluetooth card I can fit as well?

Hi BJohnD,

You can check the list of the wireless cards below which are tested and compatible with your computer:

  1. Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half Mini-Card (2.4 GHz)
  2. Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini-Card (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz)
  3. Intel WiFi Link 5100 (802.11 a/g/n) Half Mini-Card (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz)
  4. Intel WiFi Link 5300 (802.11 a/g/n) Half Mini-Card (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz)

WWAN cards tested with the Studio 1535 are:

  1. Dell Wireless 5720 Mobile Broadband Mini-Card
  2. Dell Wireless 5530 HSPA for ATT

For more information on Intel cards, you can refer to link: http://intel.ly/VpqxTh . Dell wireless 1520 wireless card is not tested by Dell on this computer however it might work. If you want to install the bluetooth card on your computer, you can go for the following ones:

  1. Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Mini-Card
  2. Dell Wireless 410 Bluetooth (2.0) + UWB Combo mini-card

Please reply for further clarifications.

installed the Intel WiFi Link 5300 (802.11 a/g/n) Half Mini-Card (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) & it works well on 2.4. The signal is a bit weak on 5Ghz. There are only 2 antennas in my laptop & I guess these are not tuned to 5Ghz.

Any ideas on where I can get 3 antennas for 2.4 & 5ghz?

Hi BJohnD,

Could you please share the distance between the router and the laptop.

Please share the router (make and model#) that you are using with the wireless card.

A distance of less than 30 ft between the wireless router and the laptop is recommended for a good consistent connection. This distance is recommended keeping in mind interference caused due to various other electronic devices working at the same frequency level. Also I would like to inform you that 5Ghz frequency works best when there are no walls or obstacles in the way, and you choose channels that aren't overlapping each other in order the get the most bandwidth.

In your laptop, there are only two antenna cables that you can use to connect with the wireless cards.

Please reply with information.
