5530 WWAN modem - how should the SIM be sitting?

I've got a 5530 35/wwan card installed, and a SIM in place. The connection manager is showing that the SIM can't be found, and I'm not sure whether it's fitted correctly.. anyone care to take a photo of theirs, in situ ?

Also.. tips for pulling out a SIM card which has gone too far in ? there was a weird plastic sleeve which I could see about 3mm of, but now can't pull either.

is it easier to remove the whole module (it's in a latitude e6400).
