802.11ac card for Dell Studio 1535

Hello.

Can anyone advise a modern wifi 802.11ac card that can be used in/compatible with Dell Studio 1535 notebook?

(I should note I already have bluetooth 370 card installed so I suppose to use wifi card without bluetooth chip on it - well, or to remove/disable 370 bt card)

Thank you.

Hello Todd,

Thank you for information.

Well, as far as I remember Studio 1535 uses half-size mini pci-e wifi cards exactly. I have DW1397 card now and it's half-size. So Intel 7260 would fit ok.

But I've read about black- and whitelists some vendors embed into their notebooks BIOS. Don't you know can I run into such an issues with my 1535 laptop and Intel cards? Or all of Intel cards are compatible with Dell?

Regards

Yuri

Hello,

Quite a few of our customers use the Intel 7260 card, and it's offered in some of our laptops, so you shouldn't have any problems with it.

Good luck!

Hello,

The WLAN Mini-Card slot on the Studio™ 1535/1536/1537 system is located on the bottom of the system underneath the access panel. Only WLAN Mini-Cards work in this slot; other cards types do not.

Three wires can be connected to the card, all of which may not be used. The black and white wires are used on most WLAN cards, while the gray wire is only be used on certain N or draft-n cards.

Since the Studio 1535 uses the mini-cards you might want to take a look at the Intel 7260 card.  That link shows it as a Mini-Card but when/if you order a card make sure you do not get the half, or half-height, mini-cards.  I don't believe those will work in your system.

You may want to check out this page from Intel that lists their 802.11ac products.

Todd.

I installed 7260HMW in Studio 1535 (Win7 x64 / win10 x64)
ark.intel.com/.../Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260
But the adapter did not work consistently. He saw both networks (2.4 and 5G) and trying to connect. .
Adapter saw networks - after a few seconds all networks disappeared.
And so all the time. Reinstalling the drivers did not help.
The adapter works fine on laptop ASUS

Yes I saw just the same when I've tried to install 7260 in my 1535 laptop.

So I've thrown it away and installed Broadcom BCM943227HM4L.
