This is really pathetic, after spending so much amount of time and money we people are struggling like this. Also the Bluetooth is not working.

I tried the tech support guys and raised a case for my issue but they themselves changed the status of the case to cancel. Again i asked them and they updated like probably tomorrow one tech guy will come to my place.

Finger crossed. Lets see.

Deepsas,

Today is a Holiday here in the United States. Let me know if you hear anything or not tomorrow. If you don't, I'll see if I can get someone to contact you.

I'm having the same issue with my xps14z. I want them to put in a new WiFi adapter.  I've had over 10 techs try to fix it.

I was advised to buy a WiFi booster for my house.  The point of a laptop is for it to be mobile  I can't carry the booster around with me to Starbucks.

I'm getting really frustrated too.  I have a solid state drive in mine.  What do you have.  I can't imagine that's part of the problem.

At this point I want a new computer.  I have a lot of school work and this issue is slowing that work way down.

Deepsas,

The antenna wires are in the LCD.

Can you see any of the other networks?

What do you see in the device manager?

What does the ipconfig /all log show?

Deepsas,

Sorry I missed this earlier, You have a Belkin router. Try changing the security to WEP or no security and you'll be able to connect.

You have an ip address, can you connect next to the router?

Dell has Updated Drivers for the Intel 6230 Wireless Networking Adapter

Try this again, since the new adapter was installed....

Intel® WiFi Products — Power Save Polling (PSP) causes connection issues with some access points

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Create a Power Plan

Select High performance.

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Yes, i already mentioned in the beginning that whenever i am near to router , i am able to connect to the wifi and its working perfectly.

And to work the wifi properly, why should we compromise all the things.

1. Battery to maximum performance mode

2. i have to change my router security system and etc. etc.

If Dell can not solve the issue they should not give all this crap solutions. :emotion-14:

Now, i tried to connect my plantronics backbeat 903+ Bluetooth headset with the laptop and tried every possible option but still no positive result on my headset too.

Deepsas,

The bluetooth errors under other devices could be from needing drivers from the manufacturers website for the bluetooth devices.

Places to look to see if your Bluetooth Connection is enabled

Try reading...

Bluetooth connection and pairing

Still cannot connect if you leave the room.

The Belkin router has problems with WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security(Personal) and WPA-AES, it has problems determing the difference between the two. That is why we went to WEP or NO Security. It doesn't work any better with no security, does it?

Another call to Dell Tech Support

A minor update to the wireless signal strength with Bluetooth communications...

I'm experiencing a weak BT signal as well.  No real problems with connectivity as much sub standard distance related drops in signals.  I use the same BT headphones at work and home with different systems and it is rather apparent that the BT signal is degraded on the 14z.

I can confirm a similar issue on my xps 14z,

I'm experiencing a generally  weak 802.11 signal.  I initially thought the issue was my older 802.11G router so I replaced it with an N device.  Same issue - extremely weak signal as close as 20ft.   If I'm within 5 feet of the router I get a strong signal.

My best guess is that this is a design flaw with the case materials or with the antenna placement.

I've noticed that I get the weakest signal strength when I have the laptop in the closed position as when connected to an external display.  This can sometimes take the signal strength from 4 or 5 bars (sys tray icon) to 1 or 2, even cause temporary lapses in connectivity.

Obviously this issue is a major pain in the rear and I'm wondering whether Dell is going to release a fix or offer a return on this model.

Luckily mine was still under the warranty.  A dell technician came out to my house and replaced the LCD Panel and WLAN card and my WiFi works great now.

I hope this helps everyone.
