Alternative wifi card for intel(R) wifi link 5100 agn for studio 1555
Hi mine studio 1555 with intel core 2 duo P8700 (http://ark.intel.com/products/37006/) processor and intel wifi 5100 agn card stopped connecting to router since last week. After searching a lot I found out that the Intel has stopped supporting 5100 for windows 8. So, I have 2 questions regarding this
- Is there any way possible to use the same adapter with compatibility drivers on windows 8??
- Please suggest some alternative cards for this. I have searched a lot but couldn't find much. All the new intel cards like "Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200", n6300 are of 22nm while my processor is of 45nm. So will the newer card work with my processor. Please suggest other alternative cards with support for windows 8.

Hi,
Welcome to the community
Possible that it should work, download the driver for the previous version. Once downloaded, go the driver file, then right click go to Properties then compatibility tab and check compatibility mode. Then select the appropriate OS.
For wireless cards, couple of adapter is available for this PC, one example is Dell WLAN 1397 or 1515. You can reach our Spare Parts Team at 18002884410. (USA)

Sorry for replying late.
I tried the driver compatibility solution with different versions of driver, but unfortunately none worked.
Atm I am using USB wifi adapter. Will try the wireless cards a bit later

Can you please help me too?
I have a dell inspiron 1545 with the 1397 wireless card and I am the farthest from the router and the signal is week an the download speed is low, I instaled different drivers for the card but with no result.
Which card should I install in my sistem for better results?
