RE: Can't enter password on Dell Latitude D630

For this driver I get an error message "Invalid self-extractor. This file may be corrupted."
I did install this one before from a different place since I had received this message before and the person helping on another forum gave me a different link. Do I need the link from another place again. It seems I am reinstalling most of the same drivers. Not complaining, I'm grateful for the direction to go for sure.

I will attempt to get online via ethernet. I do have a 13 character password. But the Intel PROSet/Wireless would only allow me to put in numbers and none of the letters would show up at all. So I got concerned something wasn't right then.

Hello I have connected via ethernet and did all updates available to my knowledge. I also set up the computer to automatically update.

where do I go from here as far as connecting wirelessly.

I will mess around with the Intel Proset and see what happens in meantime.

Hi,
I tried to connect with the Intel ProSet but to no avail. When I go to enter the password only the numbers show up and it seems to ignore the letters.

Appreciate your help.

Cindi,

Make a system restore point.

Make sure you have these drivers saved to your desktop. Intel Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, (R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, v.FLWSP0064D...

Start, control panel, device manager, neowrk adapters, right click on Intel 3945ABG Network Connection, left click uninstall. Tell it to remove the software and drivers.

Restart your computer. When you log in, the new hardware wizard will try to install the drivers and fail. Install the drivers saved to your desktop.

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

Hi,
I did as you suggested and saved drivers to desktop, uninstalled, restarted computer and re-installed the drivers.
I got a message that new hardware is found and now it's been searching for Network Controller for several minutes. Is this normal?
Thanks

CindiF,

Should not last more than about 2 minutes. Run an ipconfig /all and see if the adapter is listed. If not, then the adapter may need reseated.

Cindi,

If your computer is under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support.

To reseat your wireless adapter, look at page 24 in the

If you don't feel safe doing this, then I would suggest purchasing a usb wireless adapter
