Can't scan to PC, Dell 948 Printer Wireless to Linksys E3000

I have a Dell 948 Printer. Recently I got a Linksys E3000 router to replace my WRT54G. I reinstalled the drivers and set up the wireless connection to the printer. It prints fine but will not scan. It gets stuck at "Requesting Scan" for a while then says"Scan Request Failed" It always worked fine on my old router but now I get this. I believe this is an issue with my router not accepting or transferring incoming data to my PC. As I said it prints fine and sending data to the memory card reader works I just can't get a scan to go through to my PC. Is there a port I should open or maybe something I am missing? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

 bxmedic,

Setup your wireless router, again, changing the SSID name and use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11.

Then with the printer disconnected...

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.  Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the proper drivers. If using Windows 7, use the Vista drivers that match your operating system. Vista 32-bit for Windows 7 32.bit and Vista 64-bit for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the drivers in the Compatibility mode.

Choose network, this ios a new installation and then you'll be prompted when to connect the printer. It should ask you for the network name and type of security as well as the password. The printer will then need to be added to the other computers that need to print to ir.

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Re: Can't scan to PC, Dell 948 Printer Wireless to Linksys E3000

Thanks Pudge. That did the trick.  It lost the connection again after a few days. Then, I  had to run the connection utility in Cisco Connect again. For some reason this router seems to drop the connection to the printers wireless adapter every once in a while. I think it has something to do with when, and/or, how the printer sleeps for a long while (days) without use. I didn't have to do the whole set-up this time though. Just went through the "Connect a new device" steps in Cisco Connect and it works fine now. I guess maybe I just have to do that from time to time to re-connect the printer to the network.

 bxmedic,

Glad you got it working! emoticon.Yes.title Thanks for posting back.

I would also try these little tweaks. I do these tweaks on all my computers in our home.

Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager)

Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign.

Go to each USB Root Hub and right click on it, left click properties, left click power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Restart your computer.

Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager). Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
