Controlpoint update wiped out my Wireless settings

At the weekend i visited the dell site and inputted my service tag, it told me there were a number of reccomended updates and some critical updates.  So in installed the Dell ControlPoint connection manager update, during the install it asked if I wanted to keep my profiles and I clicked yes.

Im running a Latitude E6500, with an Intel 5300 card.  Before the update I had a little radio waves type icon in my sys tray which was green and I could right click and tell it which connection to connect too, i think it was intel software. All my connections were stored in here.

After the upgrade of the control point, that intel software is missing and I have no connections.  So My wireless is now not working because I work away from the office and all the settings are applied by the customer on a first visit to their IT dept.  Getting the UN/Pw back for all the locations I work is going to be difficult and embarresing.

Why did the control panel take over, why did it not import my connection settings? Is there a way to get the intel software back, it has a nicer easier to use feel to it anyway, and just works!

Hope the community might be able to help!

Re: Controlpoint update wiped out my Wireless settings

I would try system restore, first. Take the computer back to before the updates. I have read many complaints on ControlPoint. Many have uninstalled it.

What is a Dell Service Tag and how do I locate it?
