Dell Dimension 2400 cannot pick up wireless signals

Hello,

I am using a Negear Wireless USB adapter for the Dell Dimension 2400.  The computer can see the wireless adapter in Device Manager; but it does not pick up any wireless signals.

There is a wireless switch to turn on/off for the laptop, but a desktop does not have such feature.  Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Jane

Does it have a wireless signal to pick up?

Yes, there are about one dozen in the neighborhood excluding my own wireless router.  My laptop can pickup the signals no problem, even using the Netgear usb wireless adapter.

Re: Dell Dimension 2400 cannot pick up wireless signals

janetoe,

Did you install the drivers for the USB Adapters before you plugged it in?

Are you using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings in your wireless router? The USB adapter is picky and will most likelk only work on channels 1, 6 or 11.(I have mine working on channel 11)

I have a similar issue and its erroring out with "Turn on wireless switch".

Network list never gets refreshed.
