Dell Inspiron 11 3137 - DW1704 Wi-Fi + BT Driver = BCM43142 Windows 7

Dell Inspiron 11 3137 - DW1704 Wi-Fi + BT Driver = BCM43142 Windows 7 drivers required

Does anyone have access to the correct drivers that will work on Windows 7 (32 bit)?

This laptop has only been release with Windows 8.

All similar Dell products that have the DW1704 wireless card do not contain or have incompatible version of the combo wireless/Bluetooth driver set.

Network Controller (wireless) - Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n Combo Bluetooth 4.0
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_020C1028&REV_01
Moving forward to Windows 8.1 is not an option at the moment.

Hmm. I had a similar problem, but my Dell 3137 seemed to have a Dell Wireless-N 1705 card. Windows 7 recognized the BT "half" of the card, but I was on my own to find drivers for the WiFi half of the card.

You have a 1704, yet it looks like our PCI Hardware IDs are identical.

I got my 1705 WiFi driver from here. Credit to this website. You can search the page for your PCI hw ID if you're still looking.

I decided to install a new SSD drive after purchasing the 3137, and loading it with Win 7 64 bit so I could use the basic touchscreen functions and not have to deal with the tile interface. All the drivers on the Dell website worked EXCEPT the DW1704 (it's a 64 bit driver, but reported 'incompatible operating system' when I tried to install it. I had an older Dell Latitude 5400 notebook with a half height (same size as what is in the 3137) wireless G card. Removed it from the 5400, opened the 3137 (two additional screws in the middle covered by stickers and you need a credit card or something thin to pry the back off the unit), replaced the DW1704 half height card with the 1510 card, Win 7 recognized the card when booting, and now I have wireless. Used half height cards from Dell sell for as little as 3 dollars on eBay. Be very careful removing the wireless antenna, one of mine snapped on the DW1704 when removing it, so I have to throw it away, but since the other card worked it's no big deal.

30yearexpert:

I may be able to help. I don't have PCI device codes handy, but here's what I figure:

1) USB 3.0 driver - I got mine from the Intel Downloads website. Works perfectly. Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel® 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family v2.5.3.34 (2014-Feb-03) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22824

2) I don't know what the SM Bus Controller is, but I bet an Intel driver would fix it. I had originally downloaded some other Intel drivers from their site -- chipset packages, etc. -- and installed them early on, so I never had to deal with "SM Bus Controller" appearing error'd in the Device Mgr.

(Word of warning: steer clear of the Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver. I've had problems with that, of different kinds, on 2 different machines. One with an Intel SSD, and one with a WD classic HD.)
