Dell Inspiron 5160 Can't connect to internet using Ethernet wire
I have Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop and Linksys Wireless-B router. I use an Ethernet wire connecting to my desktop and also to the 5160 laptop. I have Comcast cable. The desktop works fine but the laptop simply would not connect to the internet. Here is what I have:
When I try to use the internet, it gives me 'page cannot be dispalyed'. I was trying to access Google (www.google.com) or Hotmail.
The connection icon (bottom right with computer icon) shows it is connected to the internet via Local Area Network (10/100).
The Address Type (in Connection Status) shows "Manually Configured" which I believe is wrong. Should be assigned by DHCP. The IP address and Default Gateway is wrong. It should be '192.168.1.1'.
It always has a lot of number on Packets Sent but zero on Received.
My guess is I need to change the Connection Setting in Broadcom but I could not find anywhere to do it. I reset the router (on the back). I turned off the router and Comcast modem. Neither makes any differene. Does anyone know what I need to do ?
