Ethernet Controller Driver - Other Devices

A while ago I reinstalled my op system on my desktop. When I did, I didn't have hard wired internet access, so I didn't worry about the Ethernet Controller. Now, my wireless adapter is beginning to fail and I have an Ethernet cord ready to replace it. But it won't accept it, I looked for the Ethernet Controller driver and it's listed under "Other Devices" and has a yellow "?" over it. Under properties it won't tell me its make or manufacture. Can you point me to the right driver, I looked and I'm not quite sure what I need for this. I have a Dell Desktop with Windows XPHome Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 3.

Thanks.

You should go here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml

Enter your service code or select your system type and download the network drivers.  I'd also advise to update all drivers while your there.  Your system will thank you for keeping it's drivers up to date.

Thanks, but I've already been thru that list, to no avail. It doesn't list an Ethernet Controller, just Wireless.

What model of Dell desktop do you have?  For the Other Device, right-click on it, and go to Details tab, choose Hardware Ids from the dropdown and report back.

Download and run to extract the files to C:\Dell\Drivers\R67150.  Browse to this folder and run WinXP\setup.exe.

If it is a Dimension 4600, then you would have an Intel Pro 100 Ethernet NIC on the motherboard.  The PCI device you listed matches - Intel Pro 100.  If you go to the Drivers and Downloads page for the Dimension 4600 and go to Network, there is an Intel 10/100 LOM (LAN On Motherboard).  It is here:

I believe it is a Dimension 4600. And the details read as the following:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1050&SUBSYS_01741028&REV_02

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1050&SUBSYS_01741028

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1050&CC_020000

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1050&CC_020000

Hi TAdriani,

Thank you for sharing the information. It appears that the drivers for the Ethernet card and Wireless card are missing. Try downloading the below set of drivers and check if it resolves the issue:

Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver: http://dell.to/19Ln2iR

Dell Wireless 1702: http://dell.to/16MshAb

Please reply with the results.
