I can’t connect to internet

Hi, I am looking for some advice about how to connect to the internet. I am trying to connect to a wireless router, one I’ve had no previous trouble connecting to from my laptop but have recently (maybe two months) am having trouble connecting to. I can connect to it from my iPad if that helps.

I have accessed quite a few tutorials all over the internet and have not been able to get anything to work. I will try to provide as much detail as I can from memory although I might miss some things.

When I run ipconfig all, I get no default gateway address.

I get a 169.254.x.x address.

I can’t ping the router.

I can’t restart the DNS client.

I can’t ip release and renew because some of my networks are disconnected.

I think this summarizes a bit of the problem I am experiencing and why some of the proposed fixes commonly available online did not work. If you need any more information to help me try to find a fix I will provide it. Thank you for your time in helping me to solve this problem.
