Install PCMCIA card in booted up laptop?

Can I insert and remove a PCMCIA Wireless Network Card in my I-8000 while it's booted up without damaging either the card or the laptop?
Running XP Home SP1.

Walt,

Yes, the card can be removed. But you should first click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon near the clock in the Windows XP notification area. This is typically found in the lower right corner of your screen. Highlight your PCMCIA card and then click on the Stop button. When the confirmation window appears, click on the OK button.

Thanks Jim

That takes care of removal. What about insertion?

generally having a card pre-inserted is fine -- i remember hearing that some notebooks occassionally surged some lower-voltage cards, but my guess is that you'll be fine
