Intel 5300 "My WiFi" technology setup

Hi,

I've been trying to set up the "my wifi" technology on my Studio XPS 1640.  I'm not quite sure what the problem is.  Initially, I was told that no wireless adapter existed.  This required updating the driver, which I did and this problem is now fixed.

Now I do have Microsoft Virtual Miniport #3 creating a network which I can access from other devices.  BUT, for some reason it is labeled as an "unidentified" network.  This means I can't do file sharing, I can't share the internet... in short, it is a useless network.  And I cannot change this setting in the Network and Sharing Center.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?  Thanks!

I had the same problem today when I received my 1640. Download this file. Go to this link-->   http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/mywf/sb/CS-030009.htm

Make sure to follow exact and when you get to the install part select CUSTOMIZE INSTALL this allows you to select the My WiFi insalation as it is not selected by default.

Hope this helps,

Regards Tre'
