Internet connection problem

I have a Dell 1525 Inspiron Laptop, running MS Home Vista.   The computer recognizes my wireless network, but refuses to connect to the same network on wire.  I run the connect routine, but can not get a connection. I have checked the connection with another computer.  That is not the problem.   Does anyone have any ideas?
