Is Inspiron 1420 have Mobile Broadband Adapter installed?

Hello,

I just bought inspiron 1420, I know there's a slot for SIM GSM card at the bottom of laptop covered by the battery. And I can see that 'internal celullar' device being Enable at the BIOS system info. However I couldn't find this Mobile broadband adapter as list of my hardware, thus Dell Wireless Utility can't recognise the mobile broadband device either.

Is any one know if inspiron 1420 actually already equiped with this adapter/card or not? Or it must be buy & install separately?

Thanks,

AG

If you did not order it then it comes seperately.  Here.

As previously stated, if you did not order the mobile broadband card, it can be purchased separately.  One way to insure the existance of the card is to look for the device driver in Device Manager.

On Vista

  • Start > Control Panel (being in classic view) > Device Manager
  • Locate the Modems section
  • If there is no modems section, then Vista did not install the driver for Mobile Broadband
  • If there is a modems section, click on the + to the left of Modems
  • Look for either 5720 (Verizon, Telus, Sprint), 5520/5530 (AT&T)
  • If not there, then the OS did not install a driver for that device - a good indication that the device doesn't exist

On XP

  • Start > Control Panel (being in classic view) > System > Hardware >Device Manager
  • Follow the above starting at point 2

Good luck!
