Loosing entire internet network when streaming

I have a Latitude E5500 with Windows 7 with a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card.  If I am doing general browsing, there is no issue however if I start using a lot of bandwidth from either playing a Flash game or watching a streaming video I lose internet connection.  First my wireless stops working/stops connecting and I am unable to even see my wireless network in Network and Sharing Center when I can confirm it exists with other devices.  If I plug into my modem with a network cable and continue what I was doing, I will quickly lose my internet completely and my Local Area Connection won't even connect despite being plugged in.

I downloaded the most recent driver for the 1397 WLAN Mini-Card yesterday and it didn't fix the issue, switching the wifi on/off with the switch on the front of the laptop doesn't fix the issue.  Using Windows to "fix" the problem does not fix the issue.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi jdietzel,

I appreciate your technical expertise. Please flash BIOS to the latest version and also update Flash player:

BIOS: http://dell.to/16qVhvK

Adobe flash player: http://dell.to/16Mp6cn

Next go to Device Manager, expand Network adapter. Right click on the wireless network cared and select properties. Navigate to Advanced tab and change the aggressiveness to Minimum.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for the response, I have updated both the BIOS and Adobe Flash and rebooted.  I went into Advanced and only saw Aggressiveness under Roam Tendency and switched that to Conservative and it did not resolve the issue.  I tested this today and while I was able to stream a lot longer than normal, I did lose my wireless connection after about 10 minutes and came very close to losing the internet connection altogether.  Do you have any other suggestions?  Thank you!

Hi jdietzel,

I recommend you to power cycle the modem/router. Please click on the following link for instructions:

If the issue persists even after power cycling, check by connecting to a different network.

Let me know the finding.

Hmm, I am not sure this is the issue as I am connected to at least 3 other devices at the time that this laptop drops it's connection and no other device has a problem.  I can plug directly into the router and if I continue to stream, I will lose the internet connection completely on this laptop and will be unable to get it back until I reboot the computer.  Upon a reboot, the wireless will work again as well.  When this laptop is unable to connect even with a cable, I am able to browse on my smartphone, another laptop and use my VOIP phone.  Do you have any other ideas that may fix this?  Thank you!
