Lost all internet connectivity

My daughters Studio 17 laptop lost all internet connectivity. Wired and Wireless. I have been searching all kinds of threads but don't seem to find a solution to this issue. I have done two systems recoveries to earlier dates when we know it was working to no avail. I have 3 other computers on this network and none are experiencing any issues. I did just change from DSL to cable broadband, but the computer was fine until Monday night. Not sure what is going on. Does anyone know if a system recovery will undo Windows updates? The most recent updates took place on 1/4/2012, which is about the time the problem showed up. I am going to uninstall those updates, 2 Security Update for Windows, and see what happens. Stand by. No good. It didn't help. I see a lot of people who are having the same problem here recently so something must have changed. Any suggestions or assistance will be appreciated. Thanks

Windows 7

Dell Studio 17 Model PP33L

Microsoft Security Essentials

Windows Firewall

fish8037,

My friend had the same issue, although the system was shutdown during the updates installation. Check your device manager, most prolly the network drivers are corrupted.

Start 'Command prompt' as administrator and then type 'sfc /scannow'

I appreciate your assistance. If I cannot get it working this weekend I am going to do the utimate and clean out and clean load. I am not real comfortable about posting my info on the web as it gives out my IP address, Mac address and some other info. Can you tell me what you are looking for and I can reply. Thanks

Fish,

The IP address which is recorded in 'System Information' is the internal IP address and is useless to a person who is sitting elsewhere in the world.

I can assure you that you can put the information removing the 'Product ID'....

fish8037,

Start, control panel, device manager, network, double click on Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card, advanced.

Look for Antenna Diversity. Change it from Auto to Aux, then restart your computer.

What happens?

Rick,

Unfortunately my daughter was having to head back to school so I went ahead and backed up all her files and reinstalled Windows 7. Just booted back up from install and all is working so far. Next step I am going to install all the drivers and then transfer her files back. I do appreciate you and Telson efforts though and maybe I can return the favor someday. Thanks again

fish8037,

May I ask which process you used to reinstall the operating system?

Also still do the tweak with the Antenna Diversity.
