Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

I have an Inspiron 1545 that I ran an update on and now I am getting a runtime error.  How do I fix it?

Try to uninstall the update - and/or - do a system restore to a point before the update was installed

A clean boot by disabling all service via "msconfig" would be another way to figure it out - but it's a "process by elimination" and could be very time consuming and maybe a little complicated if you've not played around in the system cinfig utility very much - here's how to do it in XP but it's quite similar in most any recent OS -  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

I forgot to mention that if you try the clean boot troubleshoot you will have to turn each service back on one by one until you get the C++ runtime error again - this will tell you what is causing the error -- but you most likely have 'a lot' different of services running in/on your system
