Hi gentleman101,

Welcome to Dell community Forum!

As i can understand that you are unable to go online wired.

From the screenshots i found that you have Windows 7 Operating System.

Please try the following steps in order to connect using a Ethernet cable in Windows 7 computer.

Click Start - Control panel - Network and Internet - Network and Sharing centre

On the left hand side of the screen, Click change adapter settings

You would see a LAN(Local area connection) icon.

1. Make sure the Local area connection(LAN) icon is enabled.

2. If not, Please right click and enable it.

3. Once enabled, Right click on Local area connection(LAN) and click connect.

3. a) If it is connected, Then try to go online and see if you get a valid IP address.

To check the IP address

Click Start -> in the small search box type "cmd" and press enter key

You would see a blank window with blinking cursor. Type "ipconfig" and press enter. See if you get a valid IP address. Eg : 192.168.2.10

  b) If it is not connected, Then try to Disable and Enable the LAN icon and then try connecting to it by following the above mentioned steps.

In case if this step doesn't work, Please provide us the make of your modem, Router and name of your Internet service provider.

gentleman101,

Did you install/reinstall the operating system recently?

Can you run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

On all systems, when you hit the Windows key and the R keys at the same time, you'll see...

For XP, you have the type

command

For Vista/Windows 7, you have to type

cmd

Hit enter. Type

ipconfig /all

Hit enter

Right click at the top of the log, left click on edit, select all

Right click at the top of the log, left click on edit, copy

Then post the log back here.

gentleman101,

It's be a long time since you replied.

Try reding...

Winsock2 How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista This should also work for Windows 7.

How to reset There are two versions of Internet explrer on a 64-bit system.

Start, in search, type

internet

You should see...

Use the version that does NOT have (64-bit) after it.
