On Board NIC getting bad IP

Our Dimension 2400 was working fine, shut it down and the next day was getting a bad IP address, tried reseting the IP, checked the cables, etc and couldn't get it to work.

This was with the on board card (broadcom)

Installed a pci card and it works fine.

I thought it was odd the the On board card would just quit. It just wouldn't get a IP and connect to the gateway but I was able to exchange files with other computers on the network.

Question, is this something I should be concerned about or should I just leave the pci card in and forget about it?
