Problem with Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller

Hi I have an Inspiron 6400/E1505

I've recently reformatted my laptop and installed the XP Pro SP1 on it.

The broadcom 440 10/100 integrated controller was working fine until I tried reinstalling drivers again to retrieve my sounds.

As of now, I have sounds, but there is no icon for the broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller in the network folder and there is a yellow question mark on the ethernet adapter.  Another thing is that when I try reinstalling/removing the broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller the installation wizard always gets interrupted before fully installing/removing it.  I've tried to remove it by using the control panel, but I get a fatal error message, but no other detail.  If anyone know how to fix it, or any way to remove it then re-installing it would fix the problem?

When you reloaded the drivers it was important to load first the Dell Notebook System software. Then the chipset drivers then video and all other drivers.

But that doesn't help me any bit now...I can't reinstall the drivers over because the installation wizard for the Broadcom 440x 10/100  always gets interrupted during the process.

what error message do you get duing the install.

Download and install the system software in normal mode. Download and install the chipset driver in safe mode. There is the very real possibility that you will need to reinstall the OS again.

You can read about the driver reinstalling order HERE
