WIFI limited Connectivity; connection drops, can't reconnect to WIFI. Inspiron 15R Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

This computer is brand new Dell Inspiron 15R. The WIFI is dropping out repeatedly. I connect for ~10 minutes, but then the connection gets a yellow exclamation point for limited connectivity, and I can't reconnect until rebooting the router. I read the sticky but there wasn't a post for the 2230 network card.

The problem happened on windows 7 and now on windows 8. Rebooting the computer doesn't work.

I tried the POWER SAVE trick and it didn't work. I tried the maximum roaming trick, and that didn't work either.

The network card is the Centrino Wireless-N 2230 with the 15.5.6.48 drivers.

I can connect to the Verizon Wireless router or tether off my DROID X2 for about ten minutes, sometimes for longer, but either way, the connection is dropped, and I can't reconnect until rebooting the router.

WHAT IS WRONG THIS THESE NETWORK CARDS??

mikeg19_82,

What type of security are you using in yoiur wireless router? What channel?

Start, control panep, device manager, network adapters, double click on the 2230 adapter, click on advanced.

Look and see if this adapter has antenna diversity. If it does, try chnaging the antenna diversity from Auto to Aux

Can you run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Security is WPA2-Personal

Windows 8

Channel is in auto on the router. There is no "antenna diversity" option in advanced properties.

Fresh install no virus or firewall software

Re: WIFI limited Connectivity; connection drops, can't reconnect to WIFI. Inspiron 15R Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

mikeg19_82,

I see you have a valid ip address.

You can try channels 1, 6 or 11, I use channel 11.

You can also try changing the security to WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security(Personal) and see if that helps.

When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Hit the Windows and the x keys at the same time, control panel, network and sharing center, click on your network, click on properties.

Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for each. Have your settings match mine.

Windows 8 uses Windows Defender as the main virus program, which is similar to Microsoft Essentials. These instructions are for printers, but will get you to the firewall settings to make sure you're allowed to connect. Allow Printer past Microsoft Essentials
