Windows 8.1 Latitude E6430 Wireless Issues
After a recent clean install of Windows 8.1 on my Latitude E6430, I can no longer access my work wireless network with utilizes 802.1x and Cisco wireless controllers.
This is using the RTM version of Windows 8.1. Windows 8 and the customer preview of 8.1 worked without any problems.
Windows installed the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter upon installation. When that didn't work, I updated the driver using the Dell support site and installed the Dell Wireless 1504 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz) drivers.
Both drivers result in the same thing: I get connected with limited connectivity and usually a self-assigned IP.
The wireless works fine on home networks using WPA2.
Any ideas or troubleshooting suggestions?

I've been having the same problem with my Dell Latitude E6430. I tried everything I found online with no luck. I even applied all of the system updates that Dell rolled out this week (most dated 10/17/2013). Nothing worked. I found this today and it solved my problem (from http://blogs.technet.com/b/dennis_schnell/archive/2013/08/31/windows-8-1-wifi-showing-quot-limitied-quot-or-quot-no-internet-access-quot.aspx):
Hi guys, i tried all the above methods but none of them worked for me. However i did find something that worked, which is to revert your network adapter driver back to an older version instead of the one installed by windows 8.1.
You can do this by going to device manager, right click on your network adapter, go to update driver, then "browse my computer for driver software, then"let me pick from a list of...." , uncheck the "show compatible hardware" checkbox and finally select the older version of current driver (if you dont know which, just use trial and error).

The specific driver that worked for my Dell Latitude E6430 was the Broadcom 802.11n 5.100.245.200 (dated 3/14/2012).

Try a fresh driver from Lenovo "Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter 7.12.39.11":

unzip and select: WLAN Driver (Atheros, Realtek, Broadcom, Intel)\Broadcom\7.12.39.11\Driver\Win8.1\bcmwl63.inf
This solution works for my Dell Latitude 6430u with card "dell wireless 1504 802.11b/g/n".

I tried the suggestions on that page and they did no fix the issue.
I've also tried the suggestions on these pages:
Solution for Wi-Fi “Limited Connectivity error” on the Microsoft Surface
Windows 8.1 Wifi showing "limitied" or "No Internet Access"
These did not resolve the issue.
I purchased an $8 Ultra-Mini USB Wireless Lan 802.11N Adapter from Monoprice.com. This is a rebranded Realtek RTL8188CU Wireless adapter. When using this adapter with the Windows installed drivers, I am able to connect to both my home and work 802.1x network.
This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the Dell/Broadcom 1504 drivers.

Please run the test on “Communication Devices” in PC Checkup. If the test returns any error codes please reply with the exact text of the error code.

Yes. Dump windows 8 altogether and go to windows 7. I've had wireless issues on three different laptops in the past month on Windows 8 and 8.1. I could barely download a large file because of the frequent disconnects. I'm on Windows 7 and no longer have that problem.

I can confirm the exact same issue. Running Dell Latitude E6430. Was running Windows 8 RTM and wifi was working fine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 and now not able to connect to work wifi.

The test results seem to be okay. Please private message me the service tag of the system, registered owners name, address, and primary/alternate contact numbers. I have a similar problem on my Dell Inspiron N5010. It came preloaded with Windows 7 but a little while back I upgraded the OS to windows 8 from MS website. Now, when I upload to Windows 8.1, I just cannot connect to wifi. I have tried everything that you have recommended in the link but nothing works for me. I am still getting the same error 'limited'on my wifi network. Strangely enough, I can connect all other digital devices I own to the same network.
I called up Microsoft but they asked me to contact Dell. I checked out Dell's website as well but there is no solution on that either. For most other companies, companies have put up specialized driver updates for 8.1 except Dell. Now I know why Dell is not doing well. It just does not seem to bother to post latest updates. If you can help, please let me know

I can confirm the same issue with Latitude E5430. After the 8.1 upgrade the wireless is very unstable. I tried all the above solutions and nothing works. I'm thinking seriously in downgrading.

Hi,
On 10/14/2013 Dell officially released Dell Wireless 1540/1530 WiFi Driver and other drivers. Please install the drivers in the specified order (the video in the hyperlink applies to Windows 8 as well) and reply with the results.

My machine is Dell M5010. It was originally having a Windows 7 64 Bit OS. I now upgraded it to 8.1. Will the same drivers as you mentioned work for my machine. I assume it would work if the wifi hardware is the same.

Unfortunately, the update did not resolve the issue.
The update changed the driver version to 6.30.223.143 (8/6/2013) but the issue is still the same.

I have installed the updated driver (Wireless 1540/1530) and it did not resolve the issue.
