Wireless Internet connection stopped working on my 4 week old Inspiron R N5010 - Ethernet connection works + work laptop wireless + ethernet connection work through the same router. See's connection but won't connect WHY??

Hello,

need some advice on my wireless connection from from Inspiron R new (4 week old) laptop.  For the first 3-4 weeks internet wirless connection was working fine from anywhere in house.  I have an Eircom 3 MB broadband package and am using an Zyxel router. There is also a Dell Dimension 5150 PC connected to the router.  PC / Router in upstairs room.

Normally I was just able to turn on my laptop down stairs and connect wirelessly.  Then it stopped working a few ebening back and I have troubelshooted and have been unable to get working.

I can connect both the PC and my InspironR laptop and my work work lap (HP) via etherney connections to the router and the internet access works fine.

My HP work laptop connects wirelessly to the network from anywhere in the house but not my new Dell inspiron laptop.  I am confused.

I have ran the suggested troubleshooting software / windows network diagnostics and it did generate some reports / information whihc I have copied and pasted below.  In summary some problems it does suggest are below in green  :

Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions as to how I might fix.

SHAWSER,

Did you ever get any resolution to your wireless connection problems?

I just purchased a new Dell 2330 All in One that I installed several rooms away from my router. No problems there 1st 2 weeks. Worked like a champ. Then the other morning work up and no connection. For the last 2 days, I have been scouring the network trying to find how to fix the problem.

Picked up 2330 and moved next to router to hard connect to ethernet because at first suspected that the wireless card went out. After connecting, I tried to connect wifi and worked. Disconnected hard cable, disconnected wifi and then reconnected wifi.

Moved back to original location and connected to wifi. At first, I thought the problem would go away. However, wifi disconnected again and wouldn't connect.

Changed several changes to my router and at first it seemed to help connections.

But still not rock solid as it had worked the 1st 2 weeks.

NOTE: I have apple, HP, iphones, ipads, and other lap tops and desktops and not one of the other devices have problems. The apple sits right next to the Dell 2330 the whole time.

Let me know if you fixed your problems.

Thanks

Mark

Mark,

Did you ever resolve your wireless connection issue?

I have the same Dell computer with the identical scenario.

Thanks for any info.

Safyrmwn,

Yes, I have resolved my problem by adjustments to my router.

First, I downloaded inSSIDer freeware on to my other laptop to analyze all the networks in my area.

I discovered that my neighbor closes to location of my 2330 was utilizing channel 11. My router was set to AUTO and because it was at the other end of the house, must have been configuring itself for the same channel. After analysis, I set my router to use channel 1 which was best choice.

The win 8 version of inSSIDer provides a network rating and now my network scores 100. with 0 networks overlapping.

Hope that you are able to use the tool to resolve your problems.

Mark
