Wireless card seems slow on my XPS 14z

I just got a XPS 14z.  The wireless signal isn't consistant and it is weaker than my old XPS 1330.  It's actually painfully slow.  Every thing is exactlly the same.  I have my old computer next to the new computer and the wireless signal is working much better on the old computer.  Pages are loading more quickly on the older model.  Is anyone else having problems with how their wireless is performing on their 14z?  There is nothing wrong with the router or internet connection.  Help.

@odietamo

the drivers i posted stopped the connection being interrupted. but there was still an issue with the range. i now have an older type of atheros installed, which improved things a lot. i just checked the link i posted in page 1, it's working from here. so it must be the connection to your router why it's dead. bad joke - i know.

Terry,

thanks for all your posts. It did not help. So here is my update:

I received a different card from Dell

Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300

No difference so far. But I am not able to put a different driver on it for this card. It tells me, that the Driver

A02v14.3.0.6

is current. Even if I I uninstall the driver, it still interrupts the installing process of a new driver and tells me that a newer Version is installed?

The technican claims that this card would have more power then the 6230.

So far, no difference.

Any idea about the Driver? Or Could that be that that driver would be the right one for the 6230.

The Intel Software does not find a new driver either?

Router. I have tesed the Computer on several routers. Same result.

Will be on the road for a week and will have contact with 4-5 routers. Will see if any of those making any difference.

If you have an y ideas please let me know.

Thanks.

Maze

Maze,

In answering Terry's thread, since I missed the first time, try reading...

How to by-pass the Dell Download Manager then use Internet Explorer to download the drivers, in your browser.

Maze,

First, can you run the Finding System Information Tool and post the results back here.

Do you have the Intel® Wireless Display or Intel® My WiFi Technology?

Hello Rick,

tried that. In Germany and in the US. No luck.

File not found.

I used the CC Cleaner and everything.

The file was posted on the 12.

http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER95300M/1/R289422.exe

Are you able to check with Dell or are you able to download the file on your computer?

Thanks.

Maze,

Can you run the Finding System Information Tool and post back the information?

You are trying to download the drivers for the wireless adapter, correct?

Maze,

Read this thread...

Installing My Wi-Fi Technology

Download the drivers from the ilink in the Intel Article that matches your operating system and save them to the desktop.

Create a system restore point, that way if things do not work correctly, you can come back to what you have,

Intel My WiFi Technology works ONLY with Windows 7 and with the other requirements.

Start, control panel, device manager, network, 6300 adapter. Right click on it, then click uninstall. Tell it to remove all the software associated with it.

Restart your computer. The new hardware wizard may try to install the adapter but give you an error. Please ignore this.

Install the drivers you downloaded from Intel's website. Folloe the tutorial in the thread(s) and it should install everything you need.

After you install, what happens?

You may have to download the Intel Wireless Display Connection Manager

Hello Rick,

thanks. Nothing changed. Still can not that get the Driver from Dell Site.

I have reported it, that the file is not to download.

I hope, that as soon, as the release the right driver, it might work.

Right now, I am getting everything from 6 MB to 1 MB and if get as close as 2 meters to the router any router - I get up to 22MB.

It does tell me that the signal quality is bad and great - changing every 5 seconds?

Any idea?

Thanks.

Maze,

Frome looking for the file you posted, to download R289422 CLICK HERE.

I would check the Wireless adapter and make sure the antenna wire is connected. For instructions. CLICK HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>.

Maze,

They may not be the drivers you're loking for. The R289422 look like it's for the WLAN 1000

I have submitted a trouble request to Dell.
