Re: Wireless card seems slow on my XPS 14z

Yes, that is correct.

They replaced my card with the N6300 and now, I am trying to get the new Driver, but the Web Site returns File not found.

Here is the Information you asked.

I hope that helps.

Thanks.

Re: Wireless card seems slow on my XPS 14z

Maze,

Read this thread...

Installing My Wi-Fi Technology

Download the drivers from the ilink in the Intel Article that matches your operating system and save them to the desktop.

Create a system restore point, that way if things do not work correctly, you can come back to what you have,

Intel My WiFi Technology works ONLY with Windows 7 and with the other requirements.

Start, control panel, device manager, network, 6300 adapter. Right click on it, then click uninstall. Tell it to remove all the software associated with it.

Restart your computer. The new hardware wizard may try to install the adapter but give you an error. Please ignore this.

Install the drivers you downloaded from Intel's website. Folloe the tutorial in the thread(s) and it should install everything you need.

After you install, what happens?

You may have to download the Intel Wireless Display Connection Manager

Re: Wireless card seems slow on my XPS 14z

Hello Rick,

thanks. Nothing changed. Still can not that get the Driver from Dell Site.

I have reported it, that the file is not to download.

I hope, that as soon, as the release the right driver, it might work.

Right now, I am getting everything from 6 MB to 1 MB and if get as close as 2 meters to the router any router - I get up to 22MB.

It does tell me that the signal quality is bad and great - changing every 5 seconds?

Any idea?

Thanks.

Re: Wireless card seems slow on my XPS 14z

Maze,

They may not be the drivers you're loking for. The R289422 look like it's for the WLAN 1000

I have submitted a trouble request to Dell.

Re: Wireless card seems slow on my XPS 14z

@ terry - silence!???

@rick - re: new driver. it's NOT just an 'N' issue - it's the same with a 'G' connection:

1 - slow and interupted connection

2 - very poor range

although issue 1 can be solved with the 'original' 6230 drivers from the intel website (see page 1 above) the range problem persists with the 6230 card installed. i now use an old atheros card that works way better than the intel one. but would love to use the intel one (need wireless display and more speed).

i have a hunch this problem is related to the number & type of routers that are all within range. to me it sort of seems that the signal somehow gets jammed. maybe this is related to the dualband function. keeps polling for a faster connection ???

Re: Wireless card seems slow on my XPS 14z

Hello Peter,

I still have the same problem, after they put in a new Card the 6300. It could be, that you right and the Card is looking for a faster connection. It is hard to explain. I have tested it on 5 different routers. No different results there.

But never just with one router by itself. Will try that next.

When I get about 5 feet to the Router it speeds up to 23MB, but as soon as I get as far as 15 feet it will drop a lot and sometimes disconnects and gets down to 1MB?

Also seems that as soon as it goes through a wall the connection almost is completly gone. Also it is important for that you be on the same level as the router.

If the router is a lever highter, the connection will be poor.

I wonder if two technician who worked on that now, did not see, that the antenna is not working correctly or two week. Those cards have two, but one technicain mentioned three would be better, because of the metal case.

Still waiting to get a call from Dell again?

Good Luck.
