XPS 410 cannot connect to any INet browser
After some difficulties with my DSL modem, I now cannot initiate a browser session on either IE or Firefox. Message says contact ISP, but the modem is working and I can get to the Inet with a laptop. I cannot even raise my ISP's POP site (the IP address), where the connections and speeds are monitored. Any suggestions? I should add that data seems to be flowing - the light at the ethernet connection on the computer is lit.

gbscdesigns,
Power off the isp modem/router and power off the wireless router(if any) wait 30 seconds. Power on the isp modem/router. Wait 15 seconds, then power on the wireless router(if any)
Restart your computer and try to connect.
What happens?

Nothing. I have tried all combinations of poweron/boot up, etc. I have no routers, just a modem, which by the way works fine with the laptop I have borrowed. Further, I can only tell you that I have turned off the MS firewall, and my (zonealarm) firewall. Also, the computer takes a couple of minutes to "ready itself" for action when I boot up. Thanks for your help.
