can't get a com port assignd to the ir device
I could not get an com port assigned to the ir device even if I configure for instance COM4 for IR in the bios?
Anyone who knows why?

what os are you using?xp/win98
what ir device are you trying to connect?
what are the other com device attached mouse etc

I am running XP
I try to connect a Palm but in the hotsynch manager I can only select COM1 (my serial port). Synching with cable through serial port works fine.
My mobile phone (Ericson T68i) works fine via IR.

Janne,
Right click on the HotSync icon on the notification area of your taskbar. Make sure infrared is checked. If not, click on it.

Cliff,
I used palm desktop 3.1 before on my old laptop. In that version there is no ir to check. Now I have updated the desktop to 4.1 on my new laptop and it works fine. Thank you!
