connection problem with att uverse


I'm new to the forum and I was hoping someone could help me with  a connection problem. 

I should apologize ahead of time as my lack of technical knowledge may cause me to omit some necessary info but please bear with me.

I have a dell dimension 3000 desktop and my internet connection is through AT & T Uverse with a wireless 2wire adapter.  My connection has been severly limited or nonexistent since the Fall and Tech Support from AT & T informed me that the problem lies with my Dell connection manager.  They said something about the Dell connection manager and the 2wire interfering with each other. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as how to resolve this issue?  I really need to reestablish connection before my next semester in school starts and I'd appreciate any help.

I should mention that I'm sending this from a laptop not the pc itself.

Just uninstall the Dell connection manager.
