no active network adapters found

Hi all,

I have a Dell dimension E310 with XP Media center edition.  I cannot receive anything through the NIC.  I can send but not receive.  If I go to task manager, networking, the screen shows "No active network adapters found".  The network adapter in device manager show it is ok and installed correctly.

I ran a Windows repair, ran winsock fix, ran Dial a fix.  Removed adapter, scanned for new hardware and installed adapter.  I have downloaded driver.  Still, it shows this in task manager.  I cannot ping, nor can I run a Ipconfig /all.

I see in device manager, show hidden devices that the TCPIP driver has a problem.  I replaced tcpip.sys from working system.  Still no solution.

How can I solve this?  It's driving me crazy!

I wish it had been that simple!!  However, I rean combofix and found a rootkit.  Combofix removed the RC and then I ran Malware Bytes anti malware and found 7 more malware.  Removed those.  Then all was better.  The network adapter showed up and I could browse internet and obtain IP from  router.

Thanks,
