toggle between Ethernet icon and Wi-Fi icon in tray when conneced

When my laptop is connected the icon in the system tray changes from Ethernet connection to the bars meaning wireless connection. My speed is not affected nor my connection. I just notice it and wondering if that is normal behavior. Should I update some driver. My understanding is when I unplug the laptop it goes directly to WIFI and visa versa. Everything is fine, just wondering why the icon occasionally flashed to the WIFI icon when I am connected. Thanks in advance
