wireless network adapter shuts down

Inspiron 1121  core I  3  Windows 7

have tried suggested tweaks from Dell Community:

Start Control Panel, device manager, click on network and then right click on network adapter, left click properties, power management, uncheck box "allow computer to turn off this device to save power"

Power options change the wireless power setting to maximum performance from the maximum power setting

Unfortunately the tweaks did not work....any other suggestions?

I have to continually use the troubleshooter which recognizes wireless network adaptor is not connected and select "apply this fix" which continually needs to be repeated.

thanks for any further ideas
