Adding a PowerConnect 5548 to a 7048 stack
Hello,
We have a 7048 stack with 5 switches and we would like to add a single 5548 to which we will connect workstations. How should we connect the 5548 in term of wiring it to the stack?
Thanks Dov

You wont be able to stack the two different switches with each other. You can still connect them together with the other non stacking ports. If everything is on VLAN 1 you can leave everything at default and traffic should flow. If you have multiple VLANs you will need to set the ports to Trunk mode.
console(config)# interface ethernet 1/e5
console(config-if)# switchport mode trunk

Thanks for your response -
It is set with single VLAN, so do we just connect with a single cable - let's say port 48 of Switch 1 in the 7048 stack to port 48 of the 5548?
Thanks

Yes that would work just fine. If you want to add some redundancy you could setup a LAG on the 5548 and on the 7048 stack.
example:
on the 5548 LAG ports 47 and 48 together
on the 7048 LAG 1/48 and 2/48 together
Then you could plug port 47 from the 5548 to port 1/48 on the 7048 stack.
And port 48 from the 5548 to port 2/48 on the 7048 stack.
