U691D and 6224
Will 2xU691D modules provide 4x10Gbe for endpoint use in a 6224? Or are they just for stacking?
I've searched through these boards, and others around the 'net, but I can't find a definitive answer to this.

That module can be used to connect to servers. Here is the part on our accessories site, it includes some additional spec information on the part.

The built-in 10Gbe ports are currently set to "ethernet," so could they also be used for host connectivity? I currently have a host fibered in, but get no link. I will only ever have three hosts connected at 10Gbe in a very low budget, non-production environment.

The built in ports are SFP combo ports. Ports 21-24 can be used for an RJ45 connection or a SFP connection, but not both at the same time. The SFP ports are 1Gb and not 10Gb, and will not accept SFP+ transceivers. What transceivers and cables are being used on these ports?

I have 10 Gbe SFP+ modules in the switch, and - while it might be a less-than-recommended way of testing - connecting a fiber between xg1 and xg2 gets a link.
Edit: There is no copper in 21-24. Just one fiber in xg1, currently.

Wait, so the "uplink" fiber ports are only 1Gb? That is not what I was told. Well how 'bout that ...

The loopback test you performed shows that the transceivers and cables will work with the switch, since the interfaces came up. Sometimes it can help with interoperability to manually set the speed on the interface connecting to the server, may be worth trying.
