dell force s50

Hello everyone I state that I am new to these things. I have a problem with a force of s50 because I can not start it with the lan ports, the status panel shows me the green lights on "OK" and "PWR". I followed the procedures as described on the DELL website with the PUTTY program but without success. Can someone help me? Thank you in advance

Was it working previously? It sounds like it might not be booting at all. When you connected the console cable did you reboot the switch to see if any of the boot process comes up?

Hello Josh previously worked then was inactive for a year without power and still connecting the appropriate cable and restarting the switch seems to do nothing. if I connect a terminal to any port, the green LED will not light up. Thanks

Hi Josh
Now I'll explain,
I bought this switch with freshman 6J8R9T1 from a seller on AMAZON about a year and a half ago,
it worked for about a month then I put it away for a year and now I need it but it does not work.
The STACK ID signals green LED on OK and green LED on AC.
The lan ports from 1 to 48 seem to connect but after a while they turn off and nothing happens,
the console lan any cable I insert with or without DB9 does not seem to work. I hope I was clear Thank you

It seems like it may be a hardware issue, but it is out of warranty. You may need to call in and see what support options you have there for out of warranty units.

dont use cisco blue console cable , that is incorrect. S50 console cable should be straight-through cable

Hi MK.W

ok I will use a direct cable but must be used together with a DB9 adapter

or direct from terminal to switch and with which program can I use it?

Thank you

Gianko

Hi MK.W

I saw the link you sent me, I have this type of adapter and I tried to connect it with a straight lan rj45 cable,

but the switch does not receive any connection screen with PUTTY.

Thank you for your interest

Gianko

1. do you have a cisco RS232 adapter ? other brand RS232 adapter have same appearance as cisco. but its Line sequential is different with cisco's.

2. use your current adapter, then make a Reverse sequence cable by yourself. for example:  A point copper   order is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ; peer B point coppter order is 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.  then use this cable attach to your RS232 adapter and insert to switch console port . try it again, if the console terminal still not output. that is all , you can give up this S50 switch.

3.i suggest you use putty as console terminal. and its parameter must like below:

baud:9600 data bits :8 stop bits:1 parity:none flow control:none
