DIMENSION 4550: drivers installation assistance needed
I recently formatted a DELL DIMENSION 4550 coz it had a severe Trojan Horse infection. I installed WIN-XP-SP2 in it. I don't have the driver CDs with me. I searched on DELL website for the drivers and downloaded it on my USB, then installed it on the computer. I didn't know that it had to be installed in an order. The audio worked, but I couldn't get an Ethernet connection. It didn't show any LAN connection option in 'My Network Places' in the computer. Then, I now removed all the drivers that I installed earlier. I need some one to suggest me, which drivers to install and in which order. Also, if possible, please send me the links to each of the drivers to be installed in an order. I'd appreciate that!! Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but I knew about that link already. Not all the points give sense, and is very confusing to find the drivers through that link, as it doesn't even have the drivers that it has mentioned in the chart!!

Hi,
In last post there is link on correct order to install the drivers and from tht u can get dell drivers for ur system. If u r not familier with tht then go to the following link and give ur service tag it will show all the drivers required by ur system. To see ur driver status after installing tht u need to go device manager and check the driver status.(right click on my computer-manage-device manager). I hope this will helpful for u.

ok, I tried installing in this order, but it still doesn't connect to the internet. I'm using a DSL modem from AT&T. The order that I followed installing is:
R47822 (chipset-1)
R56339 (audio-2)
R58222 (video-3)
R56238 (NIC-4)
R56237 (NIC-5)
It still shows the message that the drivers not installed for the Ethernet and wireless!! wut do I need to install now, any idea?
Thanks!!

ok, there is a yellow question mark on the Other Devices option, and under that there is two other options, Ethernet Controller and PCI Simple Communications Controller, and both these have a yellow question mark with an exclamation mark!!
